Fusing

Fuse round and wrap neck facing pieces.

Step 1

Stitch facing pieces together at shoulder seams. Press seams open. Neaten outer edges. Put aside until needed.

Step 2

Cut a 4cm/1.6” long piece of hat elastic. Loop it in half and stitch the open edges along centre front edge of left wrap section 1.5cm from top edge.

Step 3

Fold tie piece in half lengthwise with right sides facing. Stitch together along long edge and one end. Trim seam allowance in half and clip corners. Turn through to the right side (using a knitting needle or loop turner) and press. Repeat for other tie.

Step 4

With right sides facing, pin open end of one of the ties to right front bodice 1.5cm down from top edge. Pin open end of the other tie piece to the left front bodice at side seam edge, lining up the top of tie with top notch on side seam. Stitch together.

Step 5

Neaten shoulder seams, wrap edges and hems.

Step 6

With right sides facing, pin together shoulder seams. Stitch. Press seam allowances open.

Step 7

Pin neck facing around neckline with right sides together, matching up notches. Stitch together all the way around neck facing and along wrap edge. Trim seam allowance in half and clip corners. Under stitch seam allowance toward facing where you can. Turn facing through to the inside and press.

Step 8

From the right side, secure the neck facing in place with a few stitches in the shoulder seam line.

Step 9

Pin front and back side seams together with right sides facing. Making sure your wrap sections are out of the way, stitch side seams together. Neaten Seams.

Step 10

Fold sleeve in half with right sides facing and stitch underarm seams together. Neaten seam. Repeat for other sleeve.

Step 11

Neaten sleeve hem edge. Turn hem up 1cm to the inside and stitch in place. Press.

Step 12

Pin sleeve and armhole together with right sides facing, matching underarm seam and notches. Stitch around armhole. Neaten seams.

Step 13

Fold front hem allowance up at notches with right sides facing. Stitch. Trim seam allowance in half and clip corners. Turn through to the right side.

Step 14

Pin the remainder of front wrap edges to the inside of dress, and fold the remainder of hem up at notches. Top stitch in place.

Step 15

Stitch your button to the inside seam allowance at top notch.

Hand sew a small snap to the facing on both sides of the wrap - to find the perfect spot for how the blouse sits on your body, please try it on, cross over your front, close with the inside seam button and loop, and mark the best cross-over point with a pin or chalk.
